White moves first. Take turns placing your nine men on empty points. Three of your men in a straight line along the board's lines make a mill, and then you remove one of your opponent's men: any man not in a mill, unless they're all in mills. Once every man is placed, take turns sliding a man along a line to the next empty point. Break a mill and make it again to remove another man. With only three men left, you may fly a man to any empty point. Leave your opponent with two men, or with no move, to win. Repeating a position three times, or 50 moves each without a man removed, is a draw.
Playing the computer
Against the computer you play White, so you move first. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard from the New Game menu, or play a friend at the same screen. Your record against the computer is kept between visits.
Tips and strategy
In the placing stage, don't rush to make mills. Being able to move later matters more, so favour the middle point on each side of the middle square, which connects to four other points.
Avoid the corners early on. A corner point connects to only two others, so a man there is easy to block in.
Block an opponent's two-in-a-row as soon as you see it, unless your own move makes a mill first.
Aim for a double mill: men set up so that one man can slide back and forth between two mills, closing one of them on every move.
Watch the endgame. A player down to three men can fly anywhere, so every open two-in-a-row they have is a threat you must block.
